or what is CAROUSEL PRODUCTIONS?

What does CAROUSEL offer?
We offer dinner theatre
packages with a murder mystery, a musical variety show or the hit interactive
comedies: The Night That Paddy Murphy
Died and Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding!
Or we can tailor-make a program for your special event-- for example,
a Christmas or birthday celebration, a wedding, bar mitzvah, you name
it!
We can supply strolling musicians and/or vocalists to add unique ambiance
to that special event, or even arrange a visit from Charlie
Chaplin or Mr. Bean!
And as for murder mysteries,
we offer various scenarios for each mystery suitable for the general public
or corporate groups and fund-raising events. We have a variety of scripts
already on hand to suit all tastes, and for a nominally larger fee can
customize a script to suit a specific group's requests. While we feel
that humour is a major component of every production, we always endeavor
to stay within the bounds of good taste, and ensure that each audience
member participates in a way that is comfortable for the individual and
enjoyable to all.
Murder
mysteries work best when accompanied by good food and beverages. We work
with the catering staff to ensure the evening runs smoothly, and if you
don't have a particular venue in mind, we are always pleased to help our
clients find one suitable to their needs.
As a company, Carousel Productions has traveled extensively throughout
Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia performing in community centres,
hotels, restaurants - even in tents! If you can't come to Calgary, that's
no problem-- we can come to you!
Because of our extensive theatrical background, we feel confident that
we can establish a good rapport with any type or size of audience in any
setting, having performed for as few as fourteen audience members to as
many as four hundred.
OUR
CAST
Cara
Mullen has an extensive background in both
professional and community theatre, and is a “triple threat”
as an accomplished singer, dancer, and actress. Cara’s second home
is on the stage, whether in a comedic or dramatic role. She has also appeared
professionally on television and in film, and has done various voice-overs
and commercials. At present, Cara is producing, directing and performing
regularly in murder mysteries and variety shows throughout western Canada
for her and Ross’ production company, Carousel Productions. She
directed and appeared in Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding
throughout 1999 and the spring of 2000, and 2003.
Ross
Mullen is the Artistic director of Carousel Productions as well
as being an accomplished character actor. Ross is a master of dialects
and has appeared on stage as everything from the romantic lead to a disfigured
hunchback, and is a veteran of the murder mystery genre. Playing ‘the
dead guy’ is quite a stretch for Ross being as his acting is generally
not that stiff !
Clark
Adams, mild mannered pastry chef by day… eccentric actor
by night. Clark has been acting in Calgary for years. Selected credits
include roles in "The Importance of Being Earnest",
"Pool’s Paradise", and the original script, "My
Kind of Town." Clark can also be seen as the cable guy in
Shaw’s "Fragile: Repairman Inside" commercial.
Among several other film and theatre credits are over 100 performances
in "Tony’n’Tina’s Wedding."
Elly
MacKenzie has been actively involved in Community Theatre for
almost as long as she can remember. Most recently, Elly directed My
Kind of Town with Cappuccino Musical Theatre, which is a script
she also co-wrote. Appearances onstage include Gwendolen Fairfax in Gas
and Light’s The Importance of Being Ernest, Meg
in Morpheus Theatre’s Little Women, Princess Kelli
in Mort (also with Gas and Light), numerous roles in
Cappuccino Musical Theatre productions, as well as appearances with Storybook
Theatre and of course, Carousel. Elly loves working with those kooks at
Carousel whether it is in various murder mysteries, or as Sister Terry
in Tony and Tina’s Wedding, or Roxanne
Squires in The Night That Paddy Murphy Died.
Jeremy
MacKenzie has been around the Calgary theatre scene for more
than 10 years. He has made appearences with the Calgary Gilbert &
Sullivan Society, Workshop Theatre, Morpheus Theatre, Front Row Centre
and Cappuccino Musical Theatre and, of course, Carousel Productions. For
the last several years he has acted as President of Gas & Light Productions
and has appeared in and directed many of their productions. Recent stage
appearences include 'A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The
Forum', 'The Importance of Being Ernest' and
'Pools Paradise.' His most recent directing stint was
Paul Rudnick's 'I Hate Hamlet'.
Tony
Whalen’s charm, wit, character acting and impressive voices
have been seen and heard around Calgary before, delighting audiences of
dozens. Tony recently appeared in “Tony ‘N Tina’s
Wedding” as Tony (surprise!) Nunzio, Sr. He is also
currently in his fourth season with Paddy Murphy,
and he was thrown into it without the faintest idea of what this might
mean to his acting career. For this, as in all things, he blames Michael.
